A Few Homeschool Educational Resources We Love

Most parents in St. Louis have suddenly found themselves working from home while simultaneously trying to care for and educate their children. My husband and I are so grateful for all of the wonderful teachers in our area working hard to develop new remote teaching systems from scratch. It’s incredible how quickly they’ve adapted.

While Zoom calls and Skype learning sessions go forth, some parents may be looking for other ways to stimulate children and supplement learning. Or, they may be looking for ways to simply occupy their children without melting their brains with weird Youtube videos. We’ve gathered a list of some of our favorite online learning sites for every age group. Several of the paid sites on this list are offering free or deeply-discounted accounts through the duration of this COVID-19 crisis.

If any helpful resources come to mind that are not on this list, please share them in the comments. This is just a small sampling of what’s out there.
We’re all in this together!

  1. BrainPop

  2. PBS: PBS LearningMedia, PBS Kids

  3. TED ED

  4. Quizlet

  5. Scholastic Learn at Home

  6. Khan Academy

Also, don’t forget that many local libraries offer not only downloads of digital books, but digital classes and more. Check out your local library’s website! And remember, if you spend a month doing nothing but loving your children, talking and eating with them, everyone will be fine. All they need is your love and patience…and the occasional movie.
